We Belong To The Day

Have you ever used a kaleidoscope. Those little kids toys that look like mini telescopes that when you gaze thru it, in the light it folds in different colors and textures. I remember when I was a kid twisting the little cardboard telescope and seeing magic before my eyes. It made my little creative heart burst to life with ideas and genuinely just couldn’t get enough. Every tiny turn you’d make would shift it into newness of sight something intriguing that I’d never seen before.

And the best way to see this magic was in the light of the day. I mean it still worked in artificial light and even a small amount of light but at its most beautiful and majestic of moments—was in the brightness of the day.

As I think about the Christian walk, as I think about when we walk with Christ in our everyday lives I believe we are to live into the brightness of the day. I don’t necessarily mean that in the literal since, but I mean that in the light of Christ that is where newness of our lives is birthed. That is where our dreams take flight because of this beautiful freedom we have in Him.

“Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection.” Romans 5:4-5

We get to live in the newness of life—with Christ! After we are baptized into Christ’s way of life it says we are actually “like Him” and walk in the “newness of Life” WITH Him. What an amazing truth and such a wild reality that gives way to great freedom. I want that.
