Create in me a Pure Heart
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” Psalm 51: 10-12
This Psalm has been on my heart and on my lips the past month. Realizing that most of the deep work happens in choosing to start my day with the Lord in honest form. Knowing that my heart houses the authentic me and needs to help navigate the disciplines of my head.
I’m so grateful to know and serve God. I recently shared my testimony and recalled all the ways that God has orchestrated the path before me. Even at a young age I became aware of the Holy Spirits presence in my life and have been trusting His guidance with every step, dream and desire.
If I want to walk in God’s ways honoring God I can call back all the way to Deuteronomy 30: 15-18
15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. 16 If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. 17 But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess.”
There have been seasons and days that are hard to continue to walk in God’s ways because they aren’t automatic desires or pursuits of my human heart. I believe it’s in my normal everyday rhythms of time with the Lord, in the early hours of the morning that help devote my mind and soul to the Lord. It’s a discipline that has turned into delight after years of this practice.
Do you have a daily rhythm with the Lord? Are you creating space for relationship with Him?
God desires YOU, all of you -exactly how you are.
I hope this encourages you today.
